An Indian Adventure

Cycling south from Udaipur we soon cross into Gujarat and one of India’s most prosperous states. With bridge, dam, and highway projects underway we stick to the village roads wherever possible to explore rural life. With its own language, dress, foods, and customs, Gujarat will feel like a new country, not just a new state.

Further south we will enter Maharashtra and head for a rest day at the world-reknown Ellora Caves.

We then head towards the coast and the throbbing metropolis of Mumbai. Known by many still as Bombay, it is India’s commercial and entertainment hub – with high finance and celebraties of Bollywood film industry mixed in with the 20 million other inhabitants. We will cycle to the coast and take a peaceful ferry ride into the city – avoiding the dangerous and hectic traffic altogether.
