Full Tour Riders
I'm now 55 years old, and having completed the Orient Express in its entirety, I now want to discover more of Eastern Europe on a bike.

I go by Nini and have loved biking since I got my first two
wheeler in 1956. I have ridden miles in Northern Michigan, which I
think may be like the Baltic States in topography and hopefully saunas. Otherwise, my husband (Ron Nehring, also on the trip) and I have made our own saunas camping, so we may have to get creative some evenings.
Looking forward to having miles to get to know all of you better.

I was born in Canada and have lived my whole life there. For the past 35 years I have worked in the IT industry, and while I did some conventional traveling (airplanes and hotels) I really never dreamed I would ever do anything like this. I came to bicycling late (43 years old) but it has gradually become one of the things that defines me.
I first read about the Tour d'Afrique in a magazine article and while I never believed such a thing would be possible for me, I couldn't stop thinking about it. The idea wouldn't leave me alone, so I did a short bike tour (10 days in Vietnam) just to see if I liked it (I did), and as soon as I got back I registered for the Amber Route tour. It almost seems like I was fated to do this.

I am a Canadian from sunny Alberta who has traveled to many places in Canada touring on the bike. It is now time to explore other cultures and world historical sites. I have cycled across Canada (Vancouver to Halifax) . The Amber Route seems the ideal way to continue my adventures on a bike.

I AM CANADIAN from the great province of Alberta. Last year Bob and did part of the Orient Express, It was a great experience and we met the most wonderful people. Other cycling trips were self supported and fun.. Don't cycle much other than that. I like the cycling for the fresh air, fitness, and Beer. This trip is #2 on my"bucket list, "

I retired at 50 from the US Air Force after a 27-year career in space operations. Since then I have found that biking is a great way to experience the world. The highlight so far was an 11-month, 36-country bicycle tour on five continents in 2003. My account of this trip is in a book called "A Year Without Underwear."

I came to biking later in my atheletic career, after running, endurance horse back riding, and X-C skiing, but I am passionate about it. It seemed the right time for an adventure so the Amber Route satisfies both itches, and I can do it with my wife, Nini.

My name is Katherine and I live in Waterloo, Ontario about one hour west of Toronto. This will be my longest cycling trip to date. I cycled around the south Island of New Zealand by myself in late 2007 and have done group tours to Newfoundland and Labrador, Virginia and Pennsylvania. Looking forward to this new adventure!

Hi my name is Chris from Victoria, on Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada. Born and raised in Berlin, Germany, I am glad I can call Canada my home now for the last 20 years. I have been into triathlon and now love to cycle the world. I have done cycling tours along the West coast from Victoria to Mexico (border to border) and across Canada (coast to coast) as well in Cuba and South Africa. Now I am excited about touring in Europe and the adventure ahead of us. See you in St. Petersburg.

"I am really looking forward to the trip through what, only twenty years ago, would have been almost impossible to see countries behind the Iron Curtain. It will be a great deal of fun I am sure, riding with many people I know from previous trips."
