North American Epic

PART OF THE

Geysers, dinosaurs and rockhopping…

Leaving Helena we continue south, skirting the town of Bozeman, en route to another famous American icon, Yellowstone National Park. After washing our bikes in Old Faithful geyser, well, maybe not, we cross the Great Divide and enter Grand Teton National Park where we have a rest day, staying in cabins at Colter Bay. With the Teton Mountains as a backdrop we cycle through the ski chalet resort of Jackson Hole and along the Hoback Canyon.

South of Green River we enter the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area before a big climb up the Uinta Mountains and a descent into the remote northeastern Utah town of Vernal, which has its roots in the Old West and is a major site of ancient dinosaur fossils. From there we journey into western Colorado and travel down isolated Highway 139, crossing 2500 meter high Douglas Pass before reentering Utah and arriving in the mountain biking paradise of Moab.

Here the tour will have a 2 day midway break during which the riders can explore Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, test their rockhopping bike skills, or just kick back with a bottle of Polygamy Porter Ale on Main Street.
