Welcome to the Ultimate cycling challenge
If you’re a runner, your ultimate adventure is the 7 Marathons. Extreme mountaineers climb the 7 Summits. Circumnavigating the world is the sailor’s adrenalin fix. And if you are a cyclist now you can strive to do the 7 Epics.
The 7 Epics are seven very long bicycle tours that essentially cross entire continents.
Racing against time in competition (or cycling at leisure), you will ride through teeming metropolises and remote hamlets, traverse soaring mountains and searing deserts, cycle on pavement, gravel, mud, and, Lord help you, even sand, in chilling rain and withering sunshine, sometimes backed by robust tailwinds, but just as often buffeted by gale-force headwinds.
In short, an experience that challenges every fibre of your being-mind, body and spirit; inspirational, educational and altruistic-supporting foundations that help protect our collective trust.
The 7 Epics is open to all comers-amateur adventurers who’ve never been on a bike and pros who can’t wait to test themselves against the elements and the competition. Individuals who are interested in doing only segments of 7 Epics are also welcome.
Since our inaugural ride across Africa we have been developing one amazing adventure after another.
In 2003 we created the Tour d’Afrique: Cairo to Cape Town
In 2005 our first European Classic:Orient Express Paris to Istanbul
In 2007 we added Silk Route:Istanbul to Beijing
In 2009 our first South American Tour the Vuelta SudAmericana: Rio de Janeiro to Quito
In 2011 it was the North American Epic from: San Francisco to St.John, Newfoundland
In 2012 we added another European classic Trans Europa: St. Petersburg to Lisbon
Using all of the experience we have garnered, we are now announcing the establishment of the 7 Epics
The 7 epics incorporates some of our classical routes above. Now announcing two new routes that will become part of the 7 Epics: The Bamboo Road Shanghai to Singapore and the The Trans-Oceania Singapore to Sydney
The participants in the 7 Epics can enter one of the following categories
Global Race
A stage race across the Globe. Unlike any race on the planet. Competing in a race that is months long requires physical stamina, a deep understanding nutrition and staying healthy, extreme strategic intelligence and unparalleled mental toughness
Global Adventure
Not focused on EFI or race but still seek a physical challenge and way to explore the world by bike. Adventure riders can ride half days if they choose, take side trips, and more fully explore each continent
Global Escape
No time for Full tours? Use those vacation days to a section of each tour. Sections last from 10 days to 3 weeks
Global Challenge
EFI: Every Fabulous Inch. There is no tougher cycling challenge out there.
